Farm Share Cooking

Just wanted to log in what I've done with last week's farm share. On Monday night we had friends over for dinner and I wanted to use my fresh veggies. We had a big salad, which boasted lettuce from the farm and radishes from my garden (whee!), swiss chard with a lemon and olive oil dressing (from the cookbook Vegetables Every Day by Jack Bishop), and quinoa with garlic scapes and spinach tossed in. For the latter, I cooked the scapes then toasted the quinoa (black and white) at the same time, then cooked in chicken broth. When it was done, I tossed in shredded spinach leaves and let them wilt. It was that easy. A little lemon juice on top finished it nicely. All of this went very well with the grilled salmon.

All I have left is snow peas and some garlic scapes. I will likely use them tomorrow for something. My sister in law gets the share this week, and then we start splitting. Oh, and my tomato plants, even the sad ones that aren't growing well, have tomatoes on them!

  1. Hi Donna,

Thanks for taking time to read. Just got back from Vegas a few minutes. Funny you asked regarding the Factor V. My sister asked the same question. My BIL is a Mascual(misspelled I know, you would not believe how long it took me to learn just how to say it) Facial Surgeon and is COS at a hospital in Vegas. My sister manages their two offices. They have been blessing to me. Getting back to asking the Hematologist, NO, he scares me! He is from Greece and he YELLS A lot!!! So (call me chicken) I will call the office on Monday, safer distance. My INR was 5.1!!! I knew I was taking too much blood thinners. He yelled at me for that number and I sternly told him he was the one that told me to take 10mg's for the week. I knew better. He he.
My BIL pointed out a couple of medical mistakes on my blog last night at dinner. He said that my numbers on my BP were wrong. I said, Are you sure? Stupid question. He said that if indeed the numbers were that I would be dead. He said I transposed them. I told him I could have, considering I was looking at them upside down!

So, please forgive me if there are any more mistakes regarding medical, I defiantly am a laymen when it comes to medical.

I wanted to write not only for that but to say WOW your blog looks great!! I would love to know how you got the index looking, we must share. Speaking of sharing, I wish we were on the same side of the US!! I would gladly share my chicken eggs for some of your vegetables. Boy I had the NICEST veggie garden in Vegas. They is one of my passions. I was surprised how much you can grow there, absolutely EVERYTHING! Ever thought of Asparagus? That was one of my favorites! Let me know if you are interested, I'll help you and it is a plant that keeps on giving for over 15 years!!!

Good to be home, just got home from Vegas about an hour ago, now to take time to check on the girls ((chicks). Have a great day Donna, again, loved the changes!

Again, I am thankful for your note. P.S. when you see the history of hits, I come up as San Francisco, but I live in So. Ca.

    Keep cooking!
