Mix and Match

This past weekend I went to visit the youngerchild in Vermont and brought up the little half-cup jars of applesauce I made last week. While I was there, a whole lot of people went apple picking together. I ended up with a bag full of apples with no idea what they all were. The youngerchild was just picking an apple here and there, so I think there were a few Cortlands, Crimson Crisps, Golden Delicious, Honeycrisps, Empires and maybe a Gala or two. Who knows?

This morning I left a few apples with the youngerchild and brought the rest home and threw together a batch of applesauce with them all. I also added a pomegranate because we had one and never got a chance to eat it. It made a really nice red color! This made nine cups of applesauce that were canned. I would have canned more but I ran out of lids. I still have a lot of apples left from when my husband and I went apple picking last week.  I hope to have enough energy to make a pie. Maybe I will make the crust tonight so I can bake it tomorrow.
