  1. Great video! That little doodad for measuring headspace is something I haven't seen before - I need one in the worst way. All these years I've been eyeballing headspace and hoping I'm right, and there's a tool for it!

  2. I don't have one of those doodads either! I must get one! :-) Speaking of pickles...whats your theory on getting the crispest pickles? I've heard about salting them first or soaking them in ice water. Any opinion on this?

  3. I have not yet tried using pickling lime which is supposed to make them crisp. For the bread and butter pickles there is a step for soaking in ice water. I guess I haven't really given it a whole lot of thought.
